How to Set Up a TV Remote App on Android

Lost your TV remote or looking for a smarter way to control your TV? Your Android phone can replace it in minutes

Lost your TV remote or looking for a smarter way to control your TV? Your Android phone can replace it in minutes. Here is how to get set up with TVGO, a free remote app that works with Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Hisense, and 50+ other brands.

1. Download TVGO

Download the TVGO app on your Android phone from: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.carpediemcreations.tvremote

It works on most Android devices.

2. Turn your TV on and connect it to Wi-Fi

Make sure your TV is fully powered on and connected to your home Wi-Fi network. TVGO connects over Wi-Fi, so both your phone and TV need to be on the same network — including the same frequency band (2.4GHz or 5GHz).

3. Open TVGO and grant network access

Launch the app and allow it access to your local network when prompted. This is what allows TVGO to find and communicate with your TV.

4. Let the app discover your TV

TVGO will scan your network and display any compatible TVs it finds. Tap your TV when it appears to begin pairing.

5. Complete the pairing

Depending on your TV brand, one of two things will happen:

  • A code appears on your TV screen — type it into the app to confirm
  • An approval prompt appears on your TV screen — accept it to connect

Once paired, your Android phone is your remote. No physical remote needed again.

💡 Samsung or LG TV? These brands require on-screen approval the first time. If your physical remote is not working, plug a USB mouse or keyboard into the back of your TV to accept the prompt. For LG, look for the PIN option on screen — it lets you approve from your phone without a remote at all.
