How to Set Up a TV Remote App on iPhone

Your iPhone can replace your lost or broken TV remote in just a few minutes. TVGO is available on iOS and works with Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Hisense, and 50+ other TV brands.

1. Download TVGO

Download the TVGO app on your iPhone from: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/universal-tv-remote-tvgo/id6756779477

It is compatible with most iPhones running a recent version of iOS.

2. Turn your TV on and connect it to Wi-Fi

Make sure your TV is fully powered on and connected to your home Wi-Fi. Both your iPhone and TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi network — and the same frequency band (2.4GHz or 5GHz) — for TVGO to find your TV.

3. Open TVGO and allow local network access

When you first open the app, iOS will ask if you want to allow TVGO to find devices on your local network. Tap Allow — this permission is what enables the app to discover your TV.

4. Let the app discover your TV

TVGO will scan your network and show any compatible TVs nearby. Tap your TV when it appears to start pairing.

5. Complete the pairing

Depending on your TV brand, one of two things will happen:

  • A code appears on your TV screen — type it into the app to confirm
  • An approval prompt appears on your TV screen — accept it to connect

Once paired, your iPhone works as a full TV remote. You are all set.

💡 Samsung or LG TV? These brands require on-screen approval the first time. If your physical remote is not working, plug a USB mouse or keyboard into the back of your TV to accept the prompt. For LG, look for the PIN option on screen — it lets you approve from your phone without a remote at all.
