TV Time, the show and movie tracking app owned by Whip Media, shut down on July 15, 2026. It left the app stores that day, and its owner said users' personal data would be deleted. Users could download their data through TV Time's GDPR export tool before the deadline; that tool went offline with the shutdown, so the export ZIP you saved is now the only copy of your history. Below are the trackers worth moving to, what each can import, and one different kind of app worth knowing about. One note up front: every tracker here logs what you watch, but none of them control your TV.
1. Trakt: The Long-Running, Open Option
Trakt has been tracking shows and movies since 2010 and is the hub many other apps sync with, including Moviebase and Sofa Time below. It also connects to media centres such as Plex and Kodi.
Its TV Time importer takes the GDPR export ZIP directly, without unzipping it. Trakt says it brings over your watch history, watchlist and ratings where available. Comments, reactions and social activity do not carry across, and the importer shows you any titles it could not match confidently so you can pick or skip them. Choose Trakt if you want your history in the service the most apps can read from.
2. Hobi: Built Around TV Time Migration
Hobi describes itself as TV Time's official migration partner. Its importer, found under Settings and then Import from TV Time, takes the official export file as-is and, according to Hobi, transfers viewing history, watchlist, episode tracking data and ratings in one pass. If moving your TV Time history with the fewest gaps is your top priority, Hobi is the most direct route.
3. Simkl: Auto-Tracking and Anime
Simkl is a tracker with automatic scrobbling and strong anime coverage. It imports the TV Time export ZIP at simkl.com/apps/import/tvtime; exports downloaded from TV Time's tool have no password, while emailed exports need the password from that email. One current catch: because of demand after the shutdown, Simkl has limited TV Time imports to its paid PRO and VIP supporters for now. Your export file does not expire, so you can keep it and import later.
